Gate 4, Project 4: Survival Video

The purpose of this project was to put the student’s video editing skills in Premiere to the test with the creation of “survival guide” video for COM220

Students executed the pre-production, production, and post-production phases of the video editing process in this project.

In pre-production, I brainstormed ideas for footage and developed a script by writing down answers to interview questions to be read during the production stage.

The production stage involved me filming my responses to the interview questions on my iPhone. Additionally, I downloaded stock music that I thought was fitting for the vibe of the production. I also shot b-roll footage to add mood to the video. The b-roll footage was shot at various locations on Elon’s campus, showcasing its historic nature.

In post-production, I imported all footage and music into a Premiere project, made a rough cut of the interview answers, and went on from there. Afterwards, I went through to refine the footage, making a more fine cut in a new sequence. Next, I added music, b-roll footage, a title slide, and lower-third graphic to polish off the production. After everything was done, I exported the video in .mp4 format and uploaded it to YouTube. You can find the video below:
